Provider config
Give Codex a home for KitKart.
Both Codex Desktop and the CLI read the same user-level file. Add this once, then use either surface.
model = "gpt-5.6-sol"
model_provider = "kitkart"
[model_providers.kitkart]
name = "KitKart API"
base_url = "https://api.kitkart.pro/v1"
wire_api = "responses"
env_key = "KITKART_API_KEY"The model is an example. Choose any model currently listed on the usage dashboard.
Codex CLI
Start in your terminal.
Keep the key in your shell environment. Never paste it into config.toml or a project file.
$ export KITKART_API_KEY="sk-your-kitkart-key"
$ codexFor a quick connection check:
$ codex exec "Reply with exactly: KitKart is connected"Codex Desktop
Same config. A quieter workflow.
Open Codex Settings → Open config.toml, add the provider block, save, and restart the app.
Launch with your key
export KITKART_API_KEY="sk-your-kitkart-key"
WindowsSet a user variable
Add KITKART_API_KEY to Windows user environment variables, fully quit Codex, and reopen it.
Verify
Make one request.
Start a new Codex session and ask a simple question. Or check the endpoint directly:
$ curl https://api.kitkart.pro/v1/models \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $KITKART_API_KEY"Troubleshooting
When something feels off.
Provider is unknown
Make sure model_provider = "kitkart" matches [model_providers.kitkart] exactly.
Authentication fails
Check that KITKART_API_KEY is available to the process running Codex. Restart Desktop after changing it.
Model is unavailable
Choose a model currently listed on the usage dashboard. Availability can change without a config update.
